Inspired by...

Something a little different. Weeks ago Jane des Rosier (aka Gritty) posted a challenge to get a bit of Klimt into our work. I'm taking her portraits and papers class (slowly!) so incorporated a bit of her teaching into my piece. There are some incredible works of art that she has posted on her Facebook page - I urge you to go on over and be amazed.

As you can no doubt see, this was painted over a patchwork of papers, many of which allowed their texture and pattern to show through. There are even the words A BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS at the bottom of the painting which I rather loved.

I can't decide if this is finished yet. It has been a week of unfinished projects which has left me ill-tempered. I've been going to bed early nursing a sore throat and accompanying aches and flitting from one work project to the next. I've calculated my VAT, but not paid it yet. I've bought half an outfit. I've not finished the book on storytelling in presentations I should have completed a week ago... I've half watched a webinar on writing a book and only managed to listen to one of Goddess Leonie's Summit lectures.

I shall post this to show my friends at Paint Party Friday and let them decide if it's finished or not! And in the meantime get on with finishing some stuff!

  1. I love Jane's work - she is one of my favorite artists - would love to do her art course. Stunning picture - love the subtle lilacs and purples. Hope you feel better soon - both in body and mind (I hate those irritating moods that seem to pounce on one when things don't seem to be going quite the right way).

  2. It looks wonderful to me and she looks very finished. Love how you did the background. I once tried something similar with pieces of canvas stitched together with heavy raw cord, but alas unlike yours mine did not work. You have my mind ticking thinking that maybe I could do something similar but with thread :)

  3. What a frustrating week you've had Lisa. I hope you can get the other half of your projects completed....
I love your new painting. She is voluptuous and sensual - a touch of red dare I say? I always love a touch of red - but then that's me.
    Happy PPF.

  6. I have been in the half done, no traction mode this week too!! I have even found it rough to write my blog posts. They have taken me twice as long to finish. I am not sick though, knock on wood. What is it?? What's in the air??

Your painting is fab. Only YOU can determine if she is done...or maybe just toss a coin.;);)

  7. Lovely painting ~ I think she could be finished ~ up to you ~ As for unfinished tasks ~ i tend to view them as 'gifts' to go back and work on ~ unless you are fighting a 'deadline' externally ~ I would relax and enjoy and take it a 'day at a time' ~ Life is an unfinished project ~ just my thoughts ~thanks, namaste, Carol (Share the Creative Journey) Happy PPF

  24. Lisa, I love this piece, you did a great job. The thing about Leonie's webinar is that you can save it all for later. I have only watched a few things, saved most of them for later,

  32. Wow Lisa, she is beautiful. I love the colors and the texture is amazing. I am glad to be back and happy you stopped by and then bought the book. I love her style and I love using pencils as they are so easy to take with me. I am slow so only just now starting the third exercise, maybe you can catch up and we can progress together.

  37. Oh I really love her. I love Jane as well, and am doing her portraits and paper class, though I haven't gotten very far through this.

I am feeling a bit half done at the moment too, but I tell myself it is a sign of a full life :) And I find some things come to completion faster when they take a while to brew.

  38. I think she's finished, but I always think other's art is finished then they add one more thing and it's the perfect thing, so do NOT listen to me!

  44. Your painting is beautiful! I love the colors. I also love Gritty Jane's work. She is great! I was going to take the class but I just can't swing the funds until next year. I am on a class budget. I have to behave myself. It's hard!!
